Let's learn English together

Гость
0 - 08.10.2014 - 10:36
I'm looking for a partner (I prefer to talk with girls, ladies than men) to mutual study English.
I'm going to practice English from 5 minutes to an hour every day early morning by skype.
If you are interested in it too, please write me about it.
My spoken English is worse than written, so I'm going to start learning elementary level using these courses:
Longman: Cutting edge starter
Cambridge: Essential grammar in use.
Also a few movies and supplementary materials.

Looking forward to hearing from you. You're welcome!

what I was trying to say (was in a rush this morning- sorry) that all three seem possible to me
1)I had only two hundred dollars which Sandy had given me I would put "only" after "I")
2)I only had two hundred dollars that were given to me by Sandy
3) I only had two hundred dollars that Sandy gave me

You can use all of them. Technically, the first sentence is grammatically correct, but people use all of them.

Let's remember previous words and compose the new sentences with them.
There were eleven new words last lesson. Let's remember them:
square; street; road; subway; pedestrian; traffic light; park; cafe; restaurant; shop. Is that all? Yes, well done!
Well, our home task was work to make new sentences with these words. This is my homework.
Look at the picture. This is a picture of a downtown. This is a modern city, like Philadelphia. There is a square on the left. There is a modern high building in front of us. There are a cafe and a restaurant in this building. The new shop is near the building. The shop is closed, because it's too late today. I see a pedestrian in the street. He is wearing a blue long shirt and jeans. He is going to the shop, I think. The pedestrian is going to the subway at the moment.
He is walking to the subway now. This subway is opposite the shop.
There are no any cars in this place of the road, because the traffic light is red. Oh, I see a wonderful park not far from this road. The entrance is just in front of it.
The restaurant is called Pizza Hit. I suppose there are lots of delicious pizzas there. Well, I'm a bit hungry now. It's time to have a cup of coffee with a pizza. Would you like to have it too?

What about your home task?

I didn't have a headache. But I was very tired.
I got up and drank some water.
Then I sat in my chair again.
"I'll sleep for another hour," I said to myself.
Soon I was dreaming.

That's all for today. The lesson is over. Hope to see you soon again. Have a good time!

I have chicken sandwich or sometimes I have pizza. Where are indefinite articles here. a chicken sandwich and a pizza.
Good question. One thing to remember is that, in addition to definite and indefinite articles, there's also such thing as a "zero article". Google the term "zero article" to find out when it's used.

For instance, zero article is used when talking about meals: Are you staying for dinner? What will you have for breakfast?

But then again, you must keep in mind that Americans drop articles more than British. I don't think it'd be wrong to say: I often have a chicken sandwich for lunch.

Hope this helps.

356-Человече >What is the last movie you saw?
What was the last movie you saw?
What is the last film you watched?
What's the most recent movie you've seen?

These are all correct. There's usually more than one correct way to ask the same question.
